I present my sculpture called, “Eternal Sovereign Kindness” my intentions behind this sculpture was to bring out elements of my childhood where everything was colorful and gentle. This sculpture embodies the energy of gentleness, safety (the gates), sovereignty (the crown like shape) and overall happiness in my own pov. Many of my peers in class during critique wished that I had an opposite contrast to this sculpture (show more decaying, rotting elements, darkness, or something that looks traumatic for everyone else to feel comfort in) while I appreciate their suggestions and views; because I do love polarizing elements myself, I’ll stick to my truth about the intentions and meaning behind this sculpture. My childhood and my heart is very important to me and it’s the reason why I try and try to keep that part of me alive and bright no matter what happens to me in this world. It’s like humanity can be so cruel to eachother, in my eyes I feel like it’s a flex to be totally opposite from that cruelty. Kindness is truly the way. I am so grateful that my Mom taught me confidence and how to embody it. Sovereignty and confidence was instilled inside me as a child through many experiences when I was self-doubting myself and my abilities. Using color as a main component to this sculpture instill feelings of pure radiant happiness, safety, excitement, and positivity and this is what I felt as a main emotion growing up with my siblings and my enthusiastic essence. My sculpture is built using galvanized steel hardwire cloth and many different colorful accessories to emphasize “Gentleness, Playtime, Peace, Happiness, and Sovereignty” I used lots of crown-like symbolism in this sculpture because as a kid I couldn’t wait to become my greatest self. I was excited to see who I would become in the future. art school.
